Re-Power with old prop?

I have finally thrown in the towel and purchased a new O/B 2012 Suzuki 70hp four stroke. My previous engine was a 2001 DF70 Suzuki. I am curious if I am able to use my old prop? I do not know the manufacture, however stamped on the prop is 13-1/4X18 and it is stainless steal. Also I have tried to slide on the prop, but it will not fit. The shaft on my new motor is larger so I figure I can get a new hub with a larger dia to fit over the new propeller shaft? The back back spacer is also different in that it has a tab on the outside. Thank you for any help.

Re: Re-Power with old prop?

The older ones have a 13 tooth spline shaft.

The newer ones use a 15 tooth spline shaft.

If you look up a Solas Rubex 13-3/10 X 17 for both motors, you'll see that the prop number is the same; the only difference is the hub number is different.

So, the conclusion is that the hub can be changed to a 15 spline hub.

I also wanted to inquire about the tab on this new spacer and why it is there? what is the purpose of this?

According to the Suzuki web site, your hub # is 58120-90J00. Don't know what the tab is for.

Perhaps it's for cutting fishing line if it were to get wrapped around the prop shaft?
