Just bought an older 1860 Alumacraft with a 87 Suzuki 115hp jet. The motor is currently set up as a dual cable and it will wear you out trying to turn the thing. I disconnected the cables from the outboard and tried turning the wheel, no change. Cleaned and lubed the rods, no change. I have settled on the problem being the cables binding and that leads to my question. Can I switch the setup over to a single cable NFB system? Been boating most of my life but always in someone elses boat. Thank you for any advice you can offer.
