Johnson 1986 25hp running rough

I just purchased a used boat which has a 1986 Johnson 25HP outboard. It seems like it is "missing". We replaced the plugs which improved it, but it still seems to miss. Anyone have any suggestions? It cranks right over when started. We also replaced the fuel hose and tank. Thanks

Start with the basics. Test your compression and spark, then report back here.

I had a similar problem with my 69 9.5 hp. the carb may have some gunk built up. I'd get a carb kit and clean the carb really well. kits are only like $30
