How do you remove marine silicone from aluminum?

While on a fishing excursion late last fall I tried to do an emergency repair to my transducer mount using a tube of marine grade silicone. The repair didn't work and now I've got a glob of silicone stuck to the back of my aluminum transom.
Any formulas for easy removal?
Thanks
Rob

Is it painted, or bare aluminum?

If it's bare, I'd razor blade it off.
If it's paint (nice paint you care about), don't think there's much out there that will dissolve the silicone without harming the paint. Could try a little acetone.

I've tried acetone and some other OTC gunk removers with no luck.
I was hoping for something chemical as opposed to mechanical but I'm not holding out much hope.
It's bare aluminum by the way.
thanks for the responses.

DAP makes a product called Silicone-Be-Gone. Follow the directions.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks
Makes sense. One time I was remodeling a bathroom and found a similar product that removed caulk.
Worked like a charm. Hope this does too.

Normally I just peel that stuff off :) ..

If its raw alum then you can use a scraper/razor blade.

YD.

It's still cold here and the boat is outside. Wonder if peeling might work better now? Might have to try.
I hate working in the cold especially with a razor blade. But, blood looks really nice on the white snow.
