We have a 2000 150 xr6 Mercury that will not pee out the water hole. Replaced water pump and both thermostats. Cleaned out all water hoses, which was filled with mud from dirt dobbers. Still can't get water even when thermostats are removed from the heads. Motor is still overheating. Any help?

Re: Mercury 150 xr6 Overheating problems

Make sure the plastic/copper tube from the water pump housing is connected to the housing and pushed up into the powerhead.
The plastic tube can easily slip out.
Also check the O ring in the exhaust adapter under the powerhead the copper pipe pushes into hasnt been dislodged.
