Engine loses fuel prime and dies after driving through no wake zone at idle.

I've got a 2005 150 evirude direct injection outboard engine and here recently it has begun to lose fuel prime and die after a long idle through a no woke zone. If I squeeze the bulb and prime it back up it starts back and runs fine. I've changed the priming bulb and fuel filters. I've also checked for any fuel leaks the could cause air to leak in. Sometimes it will die and sometimes it will do fine for several trips to the lake. It stays primed up after setting in the garage for weeks. Anyone know what could be causing this problem?

Have you checked your fuel pump?

If this mtr is a Ficht you could have a bad fuel lift pump on it.

No, haven't checked the fuel pump.

How can I check the fuel lift pump to see if its bad?

For fuel safety reasons, you may want to take it to a dlr and have it checked. They should have a volume/pressure gauge they could put on it to check it. I've still got one in my tool box and have used it for years.
