Any one know what kind of fuel burn I am looking at for a Celebrity 245 with a 7.4 Volvo dual prop?

Can this boat be towed with a Dodge 1500 4x4?

Re: fuel economy

Between 1 and 2.5 miles per gallon should be a close guess. That's about what our 260 SSI w/ 8.1 and Volvo DP gets. And pretty much every boat in that approximate size that I've owned or know of gets. If you're content with a 2800-3100 rpm cruise speeds, you'll get the higher. If you push it past those revs for any great length of time, buy stock in Chevron...

Not hard to answer, but you're the only one who can...

What's the weight of your boat with fuel, fresh water and your usual 'stuff' aboard?
What's the weight of your trailer?

Now add them up.

What's the tow capacity of your truck, AS IT'S CURRENTLY EQUIPPED (engine, transmission, factory tow package(?), 4x4 vs 2x4)?

My last boat was a 1999, 24' Chris Craft express cruiser.
- Dry weight - 5250 lb.
- 100 gal of fuel - 800 lb.
- Fresh water (20 gal). No 'black water' holding tank - 150 lb.
- Anchors, supplies, miscellaneous stuff - 200 lb.
- Trailer- Tidewater tandem axle aluminum - 1675 lb.

Total 'on the road' weight - app. 8000 lb.

My 1996 Chevy 1500 4x4 didn't have the capacity to tow it safely. I decided to upgrade to a 3/4 ton pickup.

Re: fuel economy

My boat is quite similar and similarly powered (7.4 MPI Bravo3) I get 2.5 MPG at roughly 28 to 32 MPH with a typical load, and less MPG everywhere else on the speedometer except idle. I was pleased to discover that I still get 2 MPG at WOT, but I have stepped hull and that might make my boat more efficient than a non-stepped hull at higher speeds.

Mine weighs 7400 lbs on the trailer and loaded for a day on the water. I tow it with a '99 Durango equiped with a 5.9 V8 and have been doing so for 8 years with no unexpected problems.

Your boat will use a lot of gas, depending upon what speed you run.

Your truck can tow between 8750lbs and 10,250lbs, depending upon what engine and gear ratio you have. You can check your owner manual.

Your boat/trailer weighs about 6000lbs empty.
