Got my boat floor ready and plan to apply Kiwi Grip. Have been advised that it is a good idea to apply an epoxy primer over the 30 year old fiberglass/gelcoat surface first. Any recommendations on the appropriate epoxy primer? Can I get it at Home Depot or WalMart?

Re: epoxy primer

Top notch primer would be something like 545 from US Paints. I love the stuff.

Are you rolling or spraying ?

If your rolling forget about 545..

Re: epoxy primer

epoxy primers are solvent thinned epoxy - make your own or use ESP 155 (order online) which is a very high end cycloaliphatic epoxy and about 24% solvent

use the solvent thinned epoxy to seal the weathered fiberglass and provide a good, fresh bonding surface.
