What is the consensus on what percentage of the engines oil that can be extracted via the threaded dip stick tube?
Engine in question is a 5.0 GXi-J
Is there difference when extracting using the threaded cap vs inserted into the dipstick tube?

Re: Oil evacuation percentage?

I don't know what the consensus is, too many with no clue vote on things like that, but the fact is, the tube comes out of the bottom of the pan. You will get almost the same amount out as pulling the plug. Of course a few drops might slide down the inside of the dipstick tube when you turn the pump off, so it's probably 99.9% and not exactly the same as pulling the drain plug.

Unless you try to stick a tube inside the dipstick tube, but that would be kind of silly.

Thanks Don S! I wasn't really sure where that tube ended up in the engines sump...

Need to look under the motor and check things out???
Using the hose connection on a oil pumper is the best way.

Since 94, the dipstick tube has always gone to the bottom of the pan and bolted into the drain plug hole.

If you are evacuating through the dipstick pipe don't forget to run the engine for 15+ min first to warm the oil up as it wil pump out far easier.
