New guy to the board. Been lurking for a few weeks, finally signed up.
Topped my previous record today. Bought a 1973 Johnson 50 hp. I say I bought it, I pretty much bought a boat and trailer and the PO threw in the motor. I've got a zillion questions, most of which have already been answered here. Example: adding telltale to this ancient motor.
Question about that procedure: I will use the OEM elbow in the jacket. IT LOOKS PLASTIC, which makes perfect sense from a corrosion standpoint. Do you install with tape or sealant of any kind? Guess I need to get the 5-pack of those, right?
