hey guys new to the forum here and would like some info if possible

i have an 84 9.9 rude yachtwin that might be having some issues .
she leaks water from the lower portion of the steering shaft right below a grease fitting . im new to boating and not sure what its called to be honest . i am mechanically inclined so i will be doing the work myself if any is needed . is this a seal issue or could it be from too much pressure going into the motor from the muffs ? side1.jpg
any help would be great . thanks

Could be from muffs, but I've seen water discharged there on similar motor under barrel test that was cooling normally. Just make sure it's cooling properly (should be able to grasp spark plug base for a couple seconds before it's too hot) in a barrel or on the lake. Muffs can't tell much about cooling function.

Good luck!

It's normal when running on a flusher.
