Just bought new 25hp Yamaha - What to watch out for ?

I just took delivery of a new 25hp Yamaha and I'm curious if this engine is known for any inherent issues to keep an eye on? Any suggestions for staying ahead of the curve on scheduled maintenance? Things they don't tell you in the owner's manual etc.

Not my first Yamaha. Had an 02 150 Vmax for 10 years that never let me down. Great motor and the single biggest reason I chose Yamaha again. Rodbolt was helpful with info about the importance of keeping the O2 sensor cleaned on the Vmax. Just looking for similar information on this one.

if you have been here before then you should know to post a model # so others know what motor you are talking about.

New from factory
Model F25SEHA ...didn't even realize you could still get a new 2 stroke.

they still make them, just cannot buy them here

Some people say new motor, but it is just new to them

Clean, fresh fuel all the time, install a fuel/water separator, use fuel stabilizers like Stabil or Seafoam...study the operator's manual and get the Yamaha Service Manual for the motor...just a bit of preventive maintenance and it should be bulletproof!...Good Luck!
