What year is my 20 hp Mariner

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and to the boating world! Just bought my first outboard tonight... I'm pretty excited. :D

Sorry to post another thread on "what year is....." but I was looking at the following website Mariner 9,9 - 20 hp and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Would somebody b able to tel what year is my 20 hp Mariner? It's a long shaft, electric start, serial number: 0A9195... last two or three digits are scratched off.

While I'm here... is it normal that the prop can be turned (only in one direction) while in forward? It doesn't move one way or another in reverse.

No matter what the last two numbers are, they all come up as:

MARINER - ( 20 H.P. (1986 ))
Serial No: 0A9195xx Model No: 7020226 , 7025206, 1020206 or 1025556

The model number depending on the last two numbers could be 7020226, 7025206, 1020206 or 1025556 but it doesnt matter as they all use the same parts list:

18/20/25 H.P. (XD) - Mercury, Mercruiser, Force, etc. Parts Lookup

Forward gear: Prop turns CW but not CCW
Neutral gear: Prop will turn freely in either direction
Reverse gear: Prop will not turn in either direction
