Hey,
I've been looking at a few fish finders on the bass pro website and im wondering which make is the best.
Ive looked into these so far:
Garmin 150 Fishfinder
Humminbird PiranhaMax 180 Tri Beam Sonar Fishfinder
Lowrance? X-4 Pro Dual-Search Fishfinder
Does anyone use them and if yes are they reliable and easy to use?

I just want a basic fish finder that will give me a good depth reading, temperature, and an idea of where some fish are.

Cheers,
Ryan

Re: Which Fish Finder?

They should all do what you want.

Differences are in features and ease of use.

Most of the features will never be used.
Things like size of screen and detail of structure, will increase as the price goes up.

Not familiar with the specific models you listed, but I would put my money on a larger screen unit.

I've been using Lowrance and Eagle units for 40 years.

The Humminbird PiranhaMax 150 Tri Beam Sonar Fishfinder is on sale right now at Cabelas, for $ 59 !!.

Don't see any reason to get the high powered 180 model unless you are fishing in very deep water, deeper than 150 feet.

Also, don't get excited about the dual beam, try-beam, this feature and that.

They will all perform about the same in the under $125 price bracket.

THe next step up would be this one, at $159.
Notice the screen resolution is 480 x 480.

Cabela's: Lowrance Mark-5X Pro Sonar
