Good evening gentlemen,
I have a J200STLEI that I just recently purchased. Before I bought it I watched it start, idle, and rpms run up but the guy said that the timing needs to be adjusted. As I was waiting for my factory service manual to come in I attempted the Joe Reeves WOT timing procedure just to try to become a little familiar with the motor but I was unsuccessful so I buttoned it back up until the manual came it. I got the manual and come to find out I was adjusting the idle timing screw and not the full advanced timing screw.
Using the service manual I preformed the throttle plate synch steps, cam pick up, wide open throttle stop, Joe Reeves
WOT timing but I cannot get the engine to start again. All 6 cylinders have a nice fat blue spark, fuel is fresh and correctly mixed 50:1.
Is there a timing spec while engine is turning over or any other procedure I can do to restore the timing? Thanks once again.
