I think your 2005 25HP is a different system. However, to make sure, go through your options catalog and find the trim for your engine. each trim has a unique look. it is almost impossible to confuse them when place side by side. if the 40HP system looks the same as the factoiry system for your engine .. then it will fit. If not ... then not.
* disclaimer - 60HP and larger engines used same trim as smaller engines except with different mounting shafts. over60HP systems will not fit under 60HP engines.
