No spark

Hi i have a 1980 25hp evinrude model - E25BaCSA i have no spark from the top plug i no the spark plugs are fine could i have a duff coil ? any help would be great.

More than likely that's what it is. A simple way to test is to move the bottom coil up to the top cylinder, move top coil to the bottom cylinder and see if you have spark then. If you do, and no spark on the bottom cylinder, then the bottom coil is bad.

I have worked on many of these motors. The coils are both okay?

Thanks for the advice wasn't a duff coil in the end just a loose wire.

Yeah i no lol feel like an idiot not seeing the ht cable was loose. no doubt i'll need help again soon as i'm stripping the whole engine for a respray and while i'v got it apart i'm going to replace all the gaskets,water pump, do a carb rebuild and anything else that needs doing.
