Trim/Tilt Thrust Pad

Does anyone know how to remove a thrust pad on a trim rod from the trim/tilt unit? The motor is a 1999 Johnson 150 hp. Does it just screw out? I don't want to just try it and damage something.

It screws out but you'll have to hold the trim rod in a vice maybe clamped between two blocks of wood so you don't damage the rod.
