I have been researching boat information here for weeks. I used the info to buy my first small fishing boat. I just purchased a a 16' Gregor and it needs some tlc im trying to figure out if I should keep the Johnson E 45-r trolling motor which came with the boat. the whole package is original to the way the package was bought. Boat, 70hp Johnson ob, E 45-r foot control trolling motor and trailer are all 1980 models. So I thought it would be nice to keep everything together. I ordered manuals for both the outboard and trolling motor but they have not arrived yet. The trolling motor seems to be a complete foot control unit. The wires trace from the front to battery area in back (three wires) so it can be wired for 24v (my understanding from a few searches on here) I dont have plans to use the motor heavily. I was wondering if it could be wired for use on a single battery (12v) The foot control has a high/low switch on the side. a search made reference that the switch might be a way to isolate just a single battery. I just picked the boat up today and all the ends of the lead ends were cut off so i didnt try to hook anything up yet. does anyone have any specs for the amount of thrust this unit would have?
I also need a replacement prop it didnt come with one any leads? didnt know the original dia.
searches keep referencing it is a 12/24v unit does it need the two batteries to work properly
Thanks for a forum that provides all this valuable information.
