Mercruiser 4.3 Rinker 192 1996

Hey Hi

I'm new to the marine world. I just got a boat that is 19' with vortec engine 4.3l. I had fun time for the pat two weekends but yesterday I faced a strange behavior from the engine. As I accelerate I can feel the engine response and RPM reaches 5000+, however, the boat doesn't response accordingly and looks like if it is moving at 1000 RPM.

This was worse when I had 6 people on board.

The prop is 19 aluminum and the tank was full.


Anyone can help what could be the cause?

If you don't smell rubber burning, I would bet you have a spun hub in the prop.

Thanks a lot Don. Is it just direct replacement of the hub or shall I take into consideration something?

Check it, there are different kinds of props. It may also not be your problem.
