I have a mercury efi 60hp 4 stroke 2002 model. I keep getting alarm sound when I at 5000 revs I have had the impeller and thermostat changed twice in the last 3 months and it still happens. Any ideas out there?

The exhaust side cover should remain cool to touch.

How hot is the rest of the motor, can you hold your hand against it for more than 2 - 3 seconds without getting burnt it may not be a cooling problem.

Many of the 4 strokes have an oil alarm if either the oil level gets too low or if pressure drops too much.

How old is the oil and filter?
