Hi guys and girls. This is my first post but just before I get underway I would like to say how informative this forum is, Ive been searching through these pages for ages and have found the answers to many problems. your all doing a great job... keep up the good work!

Now I have an 1982 60hp evinrude (E60TLNCM) that I purchased a year ago for a couple of hundread dollars in running condition. Ive recently got myself a small 15 foot cabin boat and spent last week hooking the engine up to it, was a bit of a pain to get started after it had been sat around for over a year but eventually got it running on muffs in the driveway. I took it out to the local ramp with a mate and it kept stalling under load so after reading the many posts on here I order 2 carb rebuild kits which I got on Saturday It also needed a lower crank seal and bottom gasket which I picked up at the same time as the carb kits. (It kept poping when idiling and a puff of smoke would come up next to the powerhead when the cover was off)

Unfortunately after removing the powerhead from the leg to replace the seal and gasket we noticed there was some slight wear to the bottom cylinder and the top of the piston was looking pretty rough. (seen through gap in bottom of engine) Compression on both cylinders is 110 psi.

I think we may have caught this before it gets really bad but would you reccomend a rebuild for this year and model engine? anyone here rebuilt one? any tips or advice?

If I was to have it rebuilt are there any other issues that should be taken care of? Ive herad electrical problems on these are quite common.... what would you reccomend replacing if thats the case.

Thanks all in advance
