Evinrude 35 Hp. 1982 or 83 Cable problem

This may seem simple but I can not remove the screw on either side of motor to release the shift cable or throttle. Used a large screw drive pushing with all my mite and a wrench to turn the screw. It looks as if it going into a small block of Alum or Plastic??? I tried a vise grip but no joy. Trying not break the screw off, anyone have the fix. I think I need a manual for the engine>!!

Hope I am doing this right. Pic0117130035.jpg Removed motor today and put on stand, did not try screws again, will buy some Blaster and spray them.

Well I see 134 views of the post, anyone have an Idea? Boobie how about you, are these screws glued in or do you think maybe some rust or corrosion?

I see where your from and I'd say corrosion. You may try a little heat on it and a few light taps with an impact screw driver. Just don't break the cowling. Somebody may have put them on with loctite and heat will break the loctite seal.
