Hello everyone I am new here. I just got a 1994 bayliner Capri for $500 but the floor had some soft spots in it also some of the boxes in the bow. I am looking for help where to buy fiberglass to cover new wood and carpet as good as original Thanks

Re: Rotten floor

Hi Sean, lots of us are in the same boat, so to speak... Your best bet is to post in the Restoration forum on this board. Lots of help for just this sort of thing.

I'm buying my glass stuff from U.S. Composites. Google them and you'll find their site. Their prices are as good as any I've found online. (No local sellers of fiberglass near me....)

Good luck,
Jim

Did you check your foam for waterlogging (core sample).

Did you drill your stringers and transom to make sure they're not rotten, these things usually go hand in hand with a fiberglass boat with a rotten deck.

If you replace your deck and don't replace the rotten wet stuff below your deck won't last very long before it rots again.

Re: Rotten floor

Hard to say... I'm pretty much a novice at this, doing it the first time myself. I just finished replacing my rotten transom core, and I'm moving to replacing the floor and flotation foam. I think I'll have spent at least $1000 (very conservative estimate) on supplies before I'm done. Probably more than that...

There are some great stickies at the top of this forum, many of them address working with fiberglass and figuring out what you need. Here's one that's worth a read: http://forums.iboats.com/boat-resto...air/how-fiberglass-deck-foam-hull-543161.html

There are lots of active and archived threads on doing this sort of replacement. Do some reading, and then you'll be in a position to ask for some specific help. There are lots of great guys here who are very knowledgeable. Start by posting info on your boat and exactly what you've found, and go from there. Oh, and post lots of pics. They really help folks give you better advice.

Good luck,

Jim
