I can't pull the end of the steering cable through the hole that is wraped in a water splash on the rear of the boat. I have the cable completely disconnected on both ends but cant make the bend to get it out. My question:

Should i just cut it to remove it and what do I cut it with?

How will the new one thread in? Hoping that it will be easier!

Many times you have to unbolt the motor and slide it off the steering cable.

Welcome to iboats Joe.

Aft end will not go through the splash well opening ?

Then disconnect the helm end and pull the entire cable out through the stern of the boat.

New cable will be the same as the old, so be prepared to pull the new cable in.
Connect a 1/4" rope to the helm end of the old cable before you pull it out.
Then use the rope to pull the new cable in.
