yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke 2003

unfortunately I have a Yamaha 90hp 2 stroke engine 2003 and I can only get a top speed of 27mph, would any one now how to increase my speed. also when I attach a fully charged battery to the engine my live and neutral cables will get very hot and it will not start automatically , I have to put rope around the fly wheel and pull the rope for it to start. has any got any suggestions to help me. I am missing my valuable fishing seasons... thank you

Can you turn the flywheel by hand easily? Sounds like you have fried a piston.
Live and neutral? Never heard battery cables called that. Where are you located?

I am from wales in the uk , the cables we attach to the batteries are red and black cables, these are known to us as live and neutral cables. they get vey hot when I am trying to start the engine, that is why I have to pull the fly wheel with rope. I don't think I have burnt out my piston because each piston is reading 107 lbs per pressure. . thank you so much for the reply and I was wondering if you have any more suggestion.
