There's a purple wire coming off of the ignition switch. Check it and make sure it has power when you turn on the ignition switch. Also check for loose connections.

Re: Dash Gauges not working

You will have a positive at the controller otherwise it wouldn't crank over.
You will have a negative at the controller otherwise it wouldn't turn off.

All the negatives are joined in the controller with a negative (black) going to the gauges via a 3 pin plug.
The purple wire should become positive when you turn the key to ON, it then goes to the gauges via the 3 pin plug.
The 3rd wire in the 3 pin plug (grey) is the signal for the tacho.

The above is for an earlier model but I suspect yours will be the same.

My money would be on a faulty ignition switch not supplying a positive to the purple wire or the 3 pin plug not making a good connection.

By using a long wire from the battery & a voltmeter you should be able to determine if you are loosing the positive or negative at the 3 pin plug or the gauges
My 3 pin plug is at the rear of the controller, yours may be different.

Is that you GH from Qld?

Re: Dash Gauges not working

You have to have power on the purple wire coming off of the ignition sw to power up what you are missing. Bad Ignition sw ??? The purple wire comes from the ignition sw in the control box.

Re: Dash Gauges not working

Ok cooled down a bit got in there with test light turned ignition on and put test light on back of the tacho, tilt and fuel gauge all had the test light activate.. The test light on the Tacho and tilt trim worked on the both positive and negative terminals??? Up underneath near control throttle and ignition the 3 wire plug worked on the red terminal which they go to the throttle and tilt trim control the other 6 pin plug near control panel number 5 red works. hope these pics upload hoping sumone could help me out as i dont have the dollars for elec to spend hours trying to find.. I appreciate all comments helping me many thanks.. IMG_2643.jpgIMG_2644.jpgIMG_2645.jpgIMG_2646.jpg

By the way my neighbour did put battery charger onto both batteries and charged them when i was at work without dissconnecting the terminals dont know if this has anything to do with it.

Re: Dash Gauges not working

Exactly what did you use as a test light and exactly what wires/terminals did you put it on?
You should be putting one test lead on the black & the other test lead on the purple.

(A positive indication on a negative wire points towards a bad negative connection which also happens to line up with your other problems including the safety lanyard not working but let's not get ahead of ourselves)

The older motors had a 3 wire loom coming from the controller to the gauges (purple, black & grey), have you found anything like that?

Re: Dash Gauges not working

From what I can make out the purple & black wires (accessory power) comes into the most starboard gauge in pic 3 (the one with the black tape & crimp lug on it), then loops around to the other gauges.

Is the bottom gauge beside the radio a voltmeter?

Re: Dash Gauges not working

Depending on exactly what you found & exactly what you did to fix it you may have set yourself up for more trouble by adding an additional negative.

Either way thanks for the feedback even if you take the she'll be right path.
