another oil question

I drained all oil (this time from the bottom of the pan) and went to fill back up when I discovered the oil from 1.5 year ago is VP straight 30 and the dealer sold me VP 10-30 this time, both all synthetic of course. (Same dealer, same person).

Does it matter if I put the 10-30 in? Is it better? I boat only in the spring summer here in California.

Thanks!

Re: another oil question

I'd think the first choice would be what the engine maker specifies for that particular motor.

When the multi-viscosity oils first came out it was common to switch from straight 30 to 10-30. But that was another time.

Re: another oil question

Thanks guys... I'll probably put a call into the shop and if they say VP SAE 30 is no longer, I'll fill with what I have.
