Small oil leak

I just purchased a new boat with a 1996 merc 115 outboard. The motor ran great earlier when I saw the boat. I trailered the boat with the motor tilted up and leaning towards the starboard side. I was just out in the garage cleaning the boat and noticed a small amount of watery oil that collected in the back of the boat underneath the top of the motor. From what I could find tonight, it was coming out of the hole in the outter casing where the wiring goes in.

Is there an overflow valve on the oil tank that may have purged a little bit when I was tralering it? Or maybe a little water mixed with old oil residue leaked out during transport?

Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Small oil leak

Many of the engines have a catch bowl or plate that when the engine is tilted into the upward position will allow fuel from in the carbs to seep out of the carb overflow jets. Also oil can be coming from the oil tank cap. Check the gasket and the cap also for cracks
