3lt 135 murcruiser stalling at idle

Have a 3lt 135 murcruiser was running fine. Now stalls at idle. Have drained fuel, fitted online 10 micron fuel filter water separator, removed filter from fuel pump, cleaned out bowl, replaced inline filter at carb. Cleaned out carb and jets. Replaced plugs. Will run sweet at 2000 rpm. Idles real rough and stalls. Stalls when putting into gear.
Getting very annoyed and kids upset. Help anyone.

First, welcome to iboats.

Mercruiser has been using the 3.0L engine since 1968, with many different carbs and ignition systems. For any meaningful help, we need a serial number or at least a year to help you.

Tuneups, compression checks, carb problems can all cause rough idle. Your stalling if not from the poor idle could also be a faulty shift cable.
