2000 35 hp prop shaft removal

can anyone give me any tips on removing the prop shaft on 35 hp johnson...reverse gear is sliping bad in reverse...need to inspect reverse gear and clutch dog

Would recommend getting an OEM Factory Service Manual. All the procedures are in there for repairing anything on the mtr.
