I had to park my flats boat on the street for two days while my driveway has being resurfaced. During the night a someone hit my boat while trying to park behind it. Now the the outboard is stuck in the up position. I thought it was a problem with the trim until I noticed the Skeg Guard was bent up and the outboard was rubbing on the back of the boat. Any suggestions on how to fix it or what it needs? Is there a way to manually lower the motor?

sorry to hear it. They would have ot hit that pretty hard, and will have a nice dent in their hood/grill.

If the cowl is now hitting the splashwell, it could be pushed off the bracket, pushed in transom, or simply jammed up too high. Tilt lever in correct position? PTT working?
You can release most PTT's with a large screw on the side of the bracket, down about the water line, and then it will drop.

I'd need to see it before doing any more guessing. Impact damage is seldom repeated exactly, so it doesn't lend itself to evaluaiton like a mechanical issue.

Call the Police and your Insurance Co if you already haven't. Anybody get a description of the vehical that did it ?? You can try lowering it by opening the manual release valve but it may not help if the mtr is jammed somewhere.
