I HAVE A 2008 3.5 hp four stroke outboard. There is a fuel shutoff valve which has a double snap-together link to the control handle. This link continually falls apart rendering the valve useless. It can come apart whether the valve is "off" or "on", and becomes very frustrating. I have to shut the fuel off when not in use as I hoist my dinghy up on davits with a rotating engine mount which leaves the motor on an angle which allows fuel to run out through the carburetor. This double-link is a poorly thought out device in my opinion.
