Hi

New here so I'm somewhat green. I have an older 16' Zodiac and the one valve seems to be stuck open. When I disconnect the pump the air rushes out until I install the cap. Happened all at once. Is replacement a big deal.
Thanks for any help

Welcome to the forums,

Is that a flap diaphragm or spring valve ? if flap, order a new one, but better replace all, will seal much better.

Happy Boating

It requires a special tool that can either be made, or find another way to remove the valve. They do not recommend using needle nose pliers, but it well...works if careful.

The diaphragm could just be flipped at a bad position and taking a small screw driver and pushing it back into place could seal it back up. The white part in the photo below being the seal. They always seem to leak a little, and the cap is the final seal.

Sounds to me like the valve is in the open position. IF you push in on the center sprung part of the valve and twist a quarter turn it should pop out and close the diaphragm. If that is open all of your air will rush out.

Good Luck !
