Hi Guys,

I have mercruiser control classic 3000 for sterndrive 5.7L, it shifts forward and reverse nicely except when I try to use throttle, I press the button and push it to forward to get some acceleration but the handle does not go forward like it is still locked. I tried when the engine starting and not starting but still facing the same problem. can any body tell me what to check first before opening the control box.

Note: the throttle button is working fine but the handle does not move.

Thank you

Re: Problem with my throttle

Before you take apart the controls check the linkage at the carb. My linage recently broke and I had suspected the controls all along. It may not help but it wont hurt to either. Good Luck

Re: Problem with my throttle

Clarify "pushing the button."

Pushing in the center button will release the shift mechanism and allow fast idle. The handle will move forward some without shifting the engine and then stop.

There is a red "lever" (it may not be red but most are) at the bottom of the handgrip. To accelerate in gear you must squeeze the handle to depress the red lever then push the handle forward (or backward) while squeezing.
