There is a simple formula that will give you a ROUGH idea.
Length X width / 15 = # of people
# of people X 150 = total weight.
So if we assume your boat is 17 X 6' 6" that gives 110/15 = 7 persons.
BUT
The total weight is the more important number. So
7 people X 150 = 1050 lbs in TOTAL. this number includes the weight of gas, life jackets and all personal stuff on board and if your passengers average 175 pounds then a realistic limit would be 5 people.
Bottom line - don't take chances by overloading the boat.
