hey guys, took the skeg off to inspect the seals and gears. Everything looks good. My question is the installation of the shaft and all the gears, mainly the shift lever and how it is supposed to ride in the cradle and the clutch dog? Or will everthing fall in to place? Thx.

Are you going to reseal while she is opened up? I would reccomend it.

They just drop into place, as it was when you opened her up. The cradle drops onto the dog, then you lower the shift rod down until the lever drops into the cradle....Just be sure the bearing carrier holes are lined up with the pins when lowering the prop shaft down. When installing the skeg, be sure there is 1/16" overhang of the spaghetti seal, so that it buts up to the gearcase head and does not fold nor bend or you will get water intrusion there. Then just torque the skeg screws down in a spiralling fashion.

Dont forget your 3M 847

The sealer for the g/c halves and the seal. Try your local parts houses.
