Starting Motor without Outdrive

I just installed a brand new 5.7 motor in my boat and was wondering if it would do any harm to start it up for a couple of seconds. I don't have the outdrive installed and do not want to run any water through it this time of year. I'm just want to see if it runs so I can save some time in the spring when boating season comes around. I had to move quite a bit of stuff over from the old motor like intake, alternator, etc., and am anxious to see if it's going to run. As I stated earlier I would only let it run for a few seconds. Thanks for any thoughts on it.

Running for 5 or 10 seconds at low rpm should NOT be a problem.

Thanks, that's kinda what I was thinking just wanted to double check. It will only be a few seconds at idle.
