Serial Number Question

I have a Mercruiser 5.7 Block and wanted to see what year model it is. I have searched web and could find the parts for it, but I was curious about the year model.

Can anyone help?

You missed one of the numbers in your serial number. There should be 6 numbers after the B

There should be a GM casting number on the block... 6 or 7 digits usually all numbers that will give the GM year model.

That will only give him a range of years of the block, not the year of all the Merc stuff bolted onto it.
