Anyone know what key switch and choke button part numbers I need for the early MerControl control box? I have a Seloc manual but not a parts catalog. Choke is being intermittent and I have isolated it to the switch. Choke solenoid is fine. While I am in the control box I am going to go ahead and change the key switch(or at least clean up the wires.) Thanks fellas, long time no see!!

There are a lot of early ones, can you post a picture of your control?

Hey Don. I will try and upload a pic. The box is the "later" early model. It has the warmup lever on the opposite side of the shift/throttle lever.

There are 3 switches for that control. Without knowing the actual part number of the control, I don't know how you can tell which one you need. The three numbers I have from an old parts program are 34198, 30162, and 30163.
Might check the numbers out with your local Merc dealer and see what the newer superseded numbers are. They could now have one switch that replaces them all,

Might want to try NAPA ,they carry a lot of marine ignition switches and probably your choke button. You may have to look at there pictures and description of switches, as part numbers may not correspond.I picked up the combo choke-ign switch there.

Thanks guys. So Gerry 45880 and 458802 are the same casing? And you think 54211t is the ignition switch for that box? Crowley says 54211t is superseded by 54211 but the 54211 is $27 and the 54211t is $46. Any idea what the difference is and why the price difference? Thanks gerry

Awesome thanks Gerry!! You are the mercury parts master. I am having a hard time seeing the difference in the two. Do you think the 54211 will be sufficient. Thanks as always!

If you can get a 54211 it will be ok.

Thanks Gerry. Always good to get confirmation from a reputable source.
I'm putting this down for my own reference Choke switch 29759 Ignition switch 54211 or 54211T

Hey Gerry, you ever convert this switch into the push to choke switch? I was thinking of leaving the old choke button mounted and installing a push to choke in the spot where the old ignition switch was. Maybe the switch off of the commander box?

No, I haven't done it but I would see no problem with it. I think a commander 2000 will have the switch you need.
