1997 200 EFI....charging n tach issues

Everything was right then the tach dropped out. Did the normal chech chech and rechech all connections from battery throughout engine harness. No good....but while testing if i had done anygood noticed voltage while running was over 16 volts
Please keep on mind I am a carb motor man and havent turned alot of wrenches on the newr electronic motors. Where do i start please?

Sounds like voltage regulator(s).

Here is the parts listing for your engine if you know for sure that it is a 1997. Do you have the s/n?

Mercury Parts, 150/175/200 (EFI)

I have sent you a service manual chapter for the Charging system. Check your PMs.

Thank you Gerry.....i dont have the serial # right here with me but i will check to make sre that it is indeed a 97. Supposed to be but the boat is a package boat so there is a possibilty it could be a 96. Anyways like I stated i am a carb man or have been and when i started looking at this one it was like...lol....I better get my duvks in a row first.Thank you so much. I will reply when done.
