Hello,
I have two DP-SM1 drives. I had to pull one of the drive's in order to fix a hydraulic line. After following the service manual instructions for pulling the drive, I was unable to get the drive to separate from the pivot housing. I ended up removing the pivot housing + drive by removing the pivot bolts, disconnecting the bellows and water line then pulling the drive/pivot housing out. Now that the drive and pivot housing are removed, I am trying to get the pivot housing and drive apart. I have tried the following:
- Lot's of PB Blaster on the 6 studs
- Gently trying to pry the pivot hosing/drive apart by putting a wedge in the gap at the top of the drive
- Heating up the studs and area on the drive where they go through (used both propane and map gas)
- Banging on the studs
- Used a small cold chisel along the seam
At this point I am completely out of ideas. I have read multiple posts regarding similar problems on this site and so far I am not having much luck. Is there something stupid I am missing such as a hidden bolt? I have attached a picture of the drive I have been working on. BTW, to get the 2nd drive off I had to do the same thing (remove pivot housing/drive at same time). When I disconnected the ujoint bellow lot's of water came out. The gimble turns easy but it seems to "catch a little". I assume the gimble should be replaced, right? I have attached pictures of the gimble/ujoint that had the water.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks
Tim
