What starter for a 4.3???

I decided to try a new starter.

I did a search online and found they start at $60 and go to $200+

Are all non Mercruiser startes the same? Does it matter wich one I go with?
I will only be keeping the boat a year if that.

What ever starter you decide on, it has to be Marine certified. Forget automotive starters. They can cause a huge KABOOM. :eek:

You haven't said what year your 4.3 is but here is an example.

I need the starter for a '98.
I did see them on this site but if all aftermarket are the same quality....

I di have to get my engine serial number to make sure I am ordering the right part.

I do plan on getting the marine version but I should make sure thats what I am ordering.

The saying " you get what you pay for" is overused - but true! There are reasons why one starter costs $58 and another costs $172 - quality and reliability ;)
