Re: is this a starcraft?

Not likely, most (all probably) Starcraft aluminum boats were riveted, and had laplines in the 60's.

Where are you located, if the seller can't ID the boat's maker, they likely do not have registration or title for it. At 21' it becomes more challenging to title & register a boat w/out paperwork, even in states that are relatively easy for boats under 16'. Same goes for it's trailer, at 21' that boat & it's trailer get to be quite heavy, and over a certain weight combo, it's often a dual axle trailer. It's combined weight &/or the # of axles may change the regulations & the easy of reg & title...

Looks like an early 60's 17ft Duracraft that's close to me, that has the exact same swoosh down the side, except in reds.

Based on it's proportions, that boat doesn't look like a 21ft'r. Or a 20' 3"+/- boat that was sold as a 21'... My early 60's 15ft Starcraft Jet is barely 14' & some inches, 9" I think.

Using a rough estimate of an 18" windshield, it isn't particularly deep, nor particularly long enough to even be close to 21'. And estimating a 24" windshield still doesn't look like it'd add up to 20'.

Re: is this a starcraft?

W/out more info:
Motor? (running?)
Interior completely shot & pieces missing~good shape~present but needs replacement (use parts & pieces as a template to make new?
Windshield? Cracked? Crazed (fine spider cracking that makes windshield appear whitish)?
Deck (floor) too soft (rotted) to stand on?
Hull condition?
Was it run in salt water? Well rinsed after every trip?
Does there appear to be any electrolysis damage anywhere?
Galvanic corrosion?
Trailer condition, towable?
Tires?
Title & reg for both?
Is it aluminum? It looks like it it........

All that ^^^^ affects 'value', but ultimately you'll have to come up w/ a # that makes sense to you & see if the seller will accept it.

Given that it looks like it's probably a project boat, and if present, none of the necessary stuff works 100% currently, 17-19' aluminum project $300.... With a motor that has compression, $400 maybe...
DO YOU LOVE the looks, size, the everything? It is THE ONE? <<-- this is only for your info, if it's a gutted shell, even an aluminum boat will require a fair amount of work & is still isn't inexpensive to put back in the water.

Even if it isn't a Starcraft, look thru these SC threads:
Starcraft Boats & Starcraft Rebuilds and Restorations, they're all here!

TONS of great aluminum boat restorations in there, and if you buy the boat, and it needs work, post a resto thread here:
Boat Restoration, Building, and Hull Repair

You'll get plenty of helpful feedback....

BTW: Ohio is one of the tougher title & reg states, be sure you know the BMV rules for boat transfer & trailers too. You'll need them both:) Looks like it's registration only on trailers, but you do need the Boat & Trailers, so make sure you look over what you'll need BEFORE you buy anything...

Have a great turkey day!

Re: is this a starcraft?

This is a 1968 Aluma Craft 17 ft model 1700 with 120 hp motor..

Hull good
Trailer good (tires bad)
Inside needs cleaned and cleaned..
The motor is a volvo 129 hp (in) and has another small one 10 hp.. we didnt start them.. For the price I paid I could junk it and get more..
Title good..

"Boat Trailers
You must register all boat trailers, and title boat trailers weighing more than 4,000 pounds, with Ohio's Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV)." It only 650!

Will post more pic soon..

Went to title it.. The lady printed out the title and charged me for it... She said you need a 12# vin.. I said what? You need to go the marina and they will issue it.. Then come back.. oh I was mad.. know nothing about this?

Could be wrong but I don't think marinas issue HIN #s. The state does.
