I have been searching through pages of threads and havent been able to find an answer to my question below. I recently bought a 16' fiberglass crabbing boat that I would like to use as a fishing boat as well. The main issue is that there aren't any existing seats in the boat, except for an old wood bench seat that I would like to remove and 2 rear glassed bench seats by transom. I plan to leave the rear seats in. I would like to add 4 pedestal seats, (2 permanent and 2 removable seats). The hull has, what appears to be a solid glassed hull. I obviously do not want to srew or drill into that. I thought about making bases for the mounts out of plywood, attaching the mounts to the wood and securing to the glassed floor. My question is, what is the best way to secure the wood base to the glassed floor, besides glassing into the deck? Or is that the only way to do it; glass them in?
If i am way off base here, or thier is a better way, please advise. This is only my 2nd boat, however my first all fiberglass boat. I graduated from a 12' tinnie
Thanks in advance for your responses!
