Hi I have replaced the gear case oil but it weeps from around this screw, on my 50TLEDS 0324852 RETAINING SCREW & SEAL, can I undo it and replace without doing any damage? I have heard about the shift screw and do not want to undo it if it dose something drastic like that.
Thanks Peter

If it is a philips head screw that should be the pivot pin which attaches to the clutch dog and should be left alone; as far as gear oil leaking out by that screw someone else will have to answer that. If you remove that screw you will be in for some fun getting it lined back up so you can go from forward to reverse.

flyreel, if you are talking about the screw by the water intake, I believe that one holds the pinion bearing in place. I gotta admit I'm not an authority on this particular year/unit, but I believe it is ok to take that screw out and replace the o-ring without any calamity happening. Better wait for confirmation by some one who knows for sure though.

That looks like the screw that holds the pinion brg in and you should be able to remove and reseal that one. Don't remove the other lower screw as that holds the shift linkage.
