Dash connections for 1999 Bayliner cuddy model 1952

I have a 1999 Bayliner cuddy, 4 cyl Mercrusier. The speedometer does not work, tac does not work, oil pressure gauge does not work nor does the gas gauge work.

Anyway, I found a rubber hose on the drivers side that pumps water out when your are driving however the speedometer has a rubber tube already connected to it behind the dash. Just wondering what the other rubber tube that flows water out of this while the boat is crusing? And any ideas as to why the other gauges are not working would be helpful; I did check the ground on the fuel tank and worry it may be a bad fuel thingy in the tank.

Hi, and welcome. You list so many problems, folks don't know where to start to help you
This reply will bump you back up so maybe someone can help with one or more of the issues.
With so many gauges out, my first thought is a bad ground, or a problem with the constant voltage system. Pull the dash panel and check all connections behind it. Any signs of water damage? Any blown fuses? Any loose wires, etc.

Welcome to iboats, Tim!

The hose that is pumping water when underway should be connected to the pitot on the transom (or the outdrive on many MerCruisers) on one end (which seems to be the case) and the speedometer on the other. Perhaps the hose was cut and you now just have the loose end attached to the speedometer.

The other gauges require battery positive, battery negative, and a signal wire. The common denominators are the battery connections. The battery positive should be a purple wire attached to the ignition switch, and daisy-chained to each gauge. The negative usually comes from the negative buss, and is also daisy-chained to each gauge. Note that there is probably also a wire for the internal light attached to each gauge.

I've checked some of the things you mentioned and have an avionics friend who will come over and check things out with his guages.

Regarding my question about the water coming out the speedo hose, what's wierd is, you can see that hose fit over something as it's flared at the end and reaches to the back of the dash! The other hose currently connected to the back of the speedo, I have traced it back to the engine compartment, but can't see past the cluster of stuff behind the engine. Maybe I'll hook up the hose that pushes the water to the speedo and see what happens! I also cleaned out the intake on the lower end.

Tim when your ready to dig deeper into it try reading the sticky's in the electrical section those will help. The guys there will help you out.
