Hi all!

I am looking at a boat that has a 1973 Evinrude 65HP engine on it.

I know that some of the older motors had major electrical issues, but cannot find any good or bad treads on this engine..

If anyone can give me some background on this engine, or engine family, I would appreciate it...

Have you tried using the forum search? Not sure which other years/models fit into this family. I did a search for 70hp the other day and came up with many early 1970's threads

Hydro-mechanical gearcase is OK if it works. Pretty expensive if it doesn't, as it was only made for a couple of years.
It does have a modern powerpack/timer base ignition. All major parts are available.

It was a good mtr. The only thing bad I can remember about it was the mechanical/hydraulic L/U it had.
