1966 Johnson 33 HP Sea Horse/Gear Case Needed

Hi All! Newbie here with a request: I was given a 1966 Nomad 14' fiberglass boat ( I wonder if these are rare? Ha!) It has a 33 HP Johnson (Model RXE-14D) and the skeg is cracked. The part # for this is 593514 which is obsolete but I found a new one for $300 and since I'm not made of money, thought I would ask to see if anyone has a spare used one with no cracks that I can buy?
I was told I had to buy the skeg and gear case as a complete unit (the Skeg bolts up to it and can be removed but it is a leak issue, I guess).

Has anyone found a salvage yard with these motors in abundance? I have a lead over in Oregon I'm working on
but any help would be greatly appreciated! :)20 (1).jpg

Hi deerhuntinggal. Welcome to iboats. I used to have the exact same motor. It was great. Had lots of low end torque and was easy to maintain, but did eat gas :/ Check online for a new skeg on sites like, ebay.com, marineengine.com, and aomci.org. The part itself should be interchangeable with similar models from many years before and after your own. Here are some great links that can help you get that old "Big Twin" up and running again in no time. You can get most routine, consumable parts like car bis, points & condensers, etc... right here at iboats. Good luck. Holler if you get stuck.

Thanks for the info! We are having fun going through this little 66 Nomad and hoping
it is going to be able to be revived.

We were thinking it was a gas hog as it came with 2 gas tanks! One is rusty and probably no good
and we need to buy a fuel line from the tank to the motor (I hope the one's they sell today for Johnson's will fit).

I have requests in at those salvage yards so we will see if they or someone can come up with the skeg.
