Paint the carb?

I have been rebuilding the carb from my inline 6 Mercruiser engine.
I soaked it in carb cleaner and most of the black paint was removed in the process.

Is there any advantage to repainting it black or is that just an image thing?

I only run on fresh water so I assume I don't need to worry much about corrosion.

Did Mercury paint the carb for a reason that should cause me to do so too?
